"16U had an opportunity to pick up some wins over the weekend in a tournament where we were one of the better teams. It took us a while to get going but once we did we played really well together. The effort was there from the first game to the last. 

We were lead by Drake Hammel, who was able to get a bucket whenever he wanted. He did a great job of mixing it up, inside out. Brandon Kracht did a great job with his on ball defense, he was also able to push the ball and make the right plays in Transition, as well as continue to knock down 3pt shots. Lucas Dorethy was nursing a back injury but was able to play through it and give us solid minutes. His size helped change some shots at the basket as well as give us some easy layups as our guards were able to draw to and find him under the basket. Having Chris Benson back was huge, he is a long defender who communicates well and adds athleticism to the team. He did a great job of coming in and integrating himself into the team without trying to do too much. His ability to handle the ball and knock down shots made us tough to guard. Layne Sommers has been solid, he doesn’t make many mistakes and brings a level of calm to the team. His disciplined play makes it hard to take him off the court. Austen India & Jackson Walthart gave quality minutes off the bench.

Great weekend for the guys to pick up some wins and build confidence. We have a long way to go and this was a nice step in the right direction. We still haven’t had the full team together, once we do we should have a competitive summer."
